Artist Spotlight: Glenn Gustafson

After attending the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts, Glenn Gustafson apprenticed at Handelan-Pedersen Studios in Chicago, enjoying five years of great opportunities there.

Later, Glenn freelanced in various locations in downtown Chicago. He currently works from his home studio in Youngsville, NC. Glenn’s other creative interests include painting, fine art printmaking, and woodworking.

Artist Spotlight: Kerri Aitken

Kerri Aitken is an illustrator based in Chicago.  She is a graduate of the American Academy of Art, holding a degree in Illustration. Kerri considers herself a digital artist primarily, working mostly with Photoshop, as well as Illustrator and InDesign. She creates artwork for a variety of applications, and specialize in publishing, editorial, and media/entertainment.

Artist Spotlight: Pamela Duarte

Pamela Duarte was born in Los Angeles and received her BFA from Art Center College of Design. She began her career as a fashion illustrator in New York and upon returning to Los Angeles segued into fashion dolls. Her clients have included Mattel, Fisher Price, Hasbro, Playmates, Golden Books, Readers Digest, and Random House.

Artist Spotlight: Louise Gardner

Louise Gardner is a British illustrator currently living in the beautiful South West of England. She has been working as an illustrator for over twenty years and has illustrated over a hundred books for children. Louise can produce artwork traditionally or digitally in Photoshop or Illustrator, and she’s worked on a wide range of projects including greeting cards, toys, tents, ceramics, and even nightware!

Some of her clients include: Anderson Press, BBC Worldwide, Boots, Harper Collins, McDonalds, Scholastic, Universal Music, Oxford University Press and many more.

Louise lives in a converted church with her partner and her cat. She says her studio is right up on the roof, so when she’s not looking at her computer screen or drawing, she sees lots of ever changing skies.

Featured Artist: Paul Morton

Paul Morton, of Hot Frog Graphics, specializes in character design, game board design and artwork.
He particularly enjoys illustrating and designing children’s games and has racked up quite a few including Battle Decks, Hotel Las Vegas, Tumblin Monkeys, Battle Tops, Monkeying Around, Wiggle Giggle Caterpillar, Wok n Roll, Honey Bee Tree, Musical Melody Maker, Walk the Dog, Rumble in the Jungle and more.

Paul has also produced artwork for many of the top players in the games and confectionery market including Hasbro, Mattel, Ravensburger, Interplay, Softplay, Tomy, Nestle, Cadbury, Icandothatgames, Toblerone and Kinder.

Artist Spotlight: Mike Dammer

Mike Dammer is an award winning illustrator who was born and raised on the south side of Chicago. He graduated from St. Xavier University where he studied art and business. Upon graduation he continued his studies at the American Academy of Art in Chicago while working full time at Vanides-Mlodock design studio. He then worked at a greeting card company for one year, and has been freelancing ever since.

Mike creates fun and wacky high energy illustrations for clients worldwide. Throughout the years he has worked on concepts and development for gameboards and electronic and educational toys. He’s created art for packaging, products, brochures and print ads. He’s also developed characters for logos, apps, branding and greeting cards, anything from small icons to roadside billboards. He has also illustrated numerous childrens books, activity books, and educational books and has worked with clients such as Houghton Mifflin, Scholastics, McGraw Hill and more!

Play! Artist Spotlight: Cliff Nielsen

Cliff Nielsen is a renowned illustrator best known for his work on projects such as Star Wars, The X-Files, and Chronicles of Narnia. His illustrations have been recognized for their excellence by the Society of Illustrators, Print, and Spectrum among others and he’s done work for major print and comic book publishers, including titles for world famous authors such as Stephen King, John Grisham, Madeleine L’Engle, C.S. Lewis, Ursula Leguin, Cassandra Clare, Washington Irvine, and Edgar Allan Poe. Cliff has been an international speaker on digital art and has served as a judge for the Society of Illustrators and a variety of professional illustration award programs.
